Welcome to the Sheldon golf course men's league
The format will be the same as in prior years for the Men’s League. The weekly points will be accumulated throughout the season. All league players and substitutes must be a club member, be out of High School, and have an established handicap with the club to play.
REMINDER: Your team will not be awarded points until your Membership Dues are paid.
RULES
- The pace of play must be rule number one, PLEASE PLAY READY GOLF. Limit looking for lost balls and help keep the leagues flowing smoothly. If it is not your league night you are NOT allowed to come out and join up with a group and play. This slows down play and disrupts the match between the two teams playing.
- Play must begin on time. Teams not ready to play at the designated time will forfeit the hole and the remaining holes where both players are not present. The team total will also be forfeited. If a “B” group is ready at 6:00, but the “A” group is not, then the “B” group has the tee.
- The 3:45 Tuesday men’s league will not be allowed to begin a new hole after 6:00 PM. Any holes remaining will be split evenly between the two teams. The 6:00 PM leagues will also split points if darkness prevents the completion of the match.
- In case of a forfeit, the team will get 22 points, the forfeiting team 0. If a team shows with 1 player only the match will be scored 16 to 6. If each team plays with 1 player only the match will be scored 11 to 11. In all of these scenarios, you still must play and turn in a scorecard.
- If you are a new league member or substitute and do not have an established handicap, a handicap will be established for you until one has been established. Your handicap is determined by taking 80% of your over-par score for the night.
- All matches must be played on the day scheduled.
- Scoring:
- 2 points per hole
- 4 points for total score
- 22 points per match
- Use handicap for strokes on card (i.e., Team A has a combined handicap of 6; Team B has a combined handicap of 10. There is a 4-stroke difference, so Team B gets one stroke on each of the four lowest handicap holes on the card.
- Place your completed scorecard with the team number and total points per team in the box at the end of the round.
Note: Cancellation of an earlier league in the day does not automatically mean the later league will be canceled and vice-versa. Remember, speed of play is important to getting everybody’s round in.
Common Questions:
Why am I missing scores on the standings sheet?
Missing scores are the cause of no scorecard being turned in. Scores can be turned in later and will be added to the standings. Please write the date of the match turned in to eliminate confusion.
Why does my handicap seemingly never change?
NEW in 2024, GHIN now uses 9-hole scores as a completed round, you should now see your handicap update and change more this season.
