Welcome to the Sheldon Golf and Country Club ladies league

The format for the Ladies League is played as a 2 Person Best Ball.  The weekly points will still be accumulated throughout the season as usual.  At least one league player must be a club member and be out of High School.  (Any exceptions to this rule must be approved by the League Liaison, Clubhouse Manager, and League Director.)

REMINDER: Your team will not be awarded points until your Membership Dues are paid.

RULES

2024 Ladies League Format:  2-person team best ball format, your team must consist of at least one Sheldon Country Club member – that means each golfer still hits every shot but you pick the best one and play from there until the hole is completed. Team handicap will be determined after each week by taking the team’s score, subtracting 36, and taking that number times 80%.  We will add each week’s team handicap together as the season progresses and divide it by the number of scores completed giving you your average Team Handicap.  The Team Handicap is posted on the standings sheet right next to your team names.

Example: Score 45-36 = 9 times .80 = 7.2 handicap.

Scoring:

  • 2 points per hole
  • 4 points for total score
  • 22 points per match
  • Use handicap for strokes on card (i.e. Team A has a combined handicap of 6; Team B has a combined handicap of 10.  There is a 4 stroke difference, so Team B gets one stroke on each of the four lowest handicap holes on the card.
  • Place your completed scorecard with the team number and total points per team in the box at the end of the round.

In case of a forfeit, the team will get 22 points, the forfeiting team 0.  If a team cannot find a sub and only has 1 player, that player will be allowed to hit two shots. (One Person Best Ball.)  If each team shows with 1 player only the match will be scored 11 to 11.  Bye weeks you get 16 points.

In all of these scenarios, you still must play and turn in a scorecard.

In the case of substitutes the team handicap is what we will be using for the match that night if one sub is used.  In the case the team needs two substitutes the team handicap will be based on the score shot that night using the 80% rule.  This score will also not affect the teams handicap for that week.

Pace of play must be rule number one, PLEASE PLAY READY GOLF.  Limit looking for lost balls and help keep the leagues flowing smoothly.

Play must begin on time.  Teams not ready to play at the designated time will forfeit the hole and the remaining holes where both players are not present.  The team total will also be forfeited.

All matches must be played on the day scheduled.

Note: Cancellation of an earlier league in the day does not automatically mean the later league will be canceled and vice-versa.  Remember, speed of play is important to getting everybody’s round in.
